My Finds at the Tucson Gem Show

Every February the entire city of  Tucson Arizona is hosting over 40 gem shows.  This is considered the largest gathering of it’s kind. Each show has it’s unique product line. Most are open only to Wholesale buyers but several allow the general public to shop as well.

This year I attended 3 different shows. The JOGS show features a good mix of finished pieces, jewelry components (pearls, gemstones, etc) and geodes. It also houses the largest selection of Amber products. The GEM Mall was a new one for me this year. This show is for the serious jewelry buyer! There were over 200 vendors selling pearls, gemstones, copper and silver components. Fun! The last show I attended was the Whole Bead show at the Windmill. This show IS open to the public but offers discounts for resellers. I always find something at this show!

Here are my finds!

  • Copper links and beads. I am anxious to try my patinas on the raw pieces!
  • Picture Jasper cabachons. (upper left)
  • Rhodochrosite beads (upper right)
  • Hematite (my SPECIAL find this year) (center of photo)
  • Recycled magazine beads (lower center). Brand new product designed and produced in Uganda.

SO I am stocked up for another year…. Oh that’s right! I get to attend the Smaller Tucson Fall show, too!
